Donating Hardware & Building Materials
All hardware should be sorted, sacked or boxed, clean and have no rust.
Hardware:
- nails
- screws
- hangers & brackets
- door locks and knobs
- hinges
- hand tools (for garden & construction)
- power tools
- less than 10 years old
- must have all parts
- if battery operated, battery must be able to hold a charge
Building Materials:
- Lumber
- no nails, rot or excessive weathered
- Dimensional lumber
- Sheets
- 1/4 sheet & longer, no irregular shapes
- Shingles
- preferably in bundles
- not ‘stuck together’
- no scraps
- no asbestos
- Tar paper
- Roll roofing
- Rubber
- dry
- folded/rolled
- no holes
- Insulation
- Backed & unbacked
- new or like-new
- rolled and clean
- never damp
- Blown
- new only, in original packaging
- Sheet
- new or like-new
- 1/4 sheet or larger
- clean
- no damage
- Paint

- new and unopened
- not professional or industrial use only
- Adhesives
- not expired and still useable
- in original packaging

- Siding
- Vinyl
- full, undamaged pieces or accessories only
- Wooden/hardboard
- for lengths: five feet or longer
- for sheets/panels: at least 1/4 sheet
- for shake-type: full pieces
- Concrete-based
- in original packaging with manufacture date OR labeled no asbestos
- must be manufactured after 1980
- Trim
- 4 feet or longer
- good cosmetic condition
- door trim sets accepted as full sets
- Handrail
- 5 feet or longer
- no damage or rot
- no excessive peeling paint
